La Festa Mille Mille Miglia 2015

Report

【Day1】16 Oct 2015

Half day driving for day one ended in unexpectedly tough race

La Festa Mille Miglia 2015 marking its 19th anniversary kicked off. This year's La Festa Mille Miglia features the participants of the International Bugatti Meeting held in Kyoto right before this event. Since those participants have also entered in La Festa Mille Miglia 2015, 150 cars compete the race this year while around 100 cars take part in it on average year.

On October 16, day one, the race started from Jingumae, Tokyo at noon, escaping from Tokyo via the Daikanyama Tsutaya, heading for Niigata 270 km away on an expressway. Unfortunately, on the short way to the Daikanyama Tsutaya, the participants were caught in the terrible traffic jams, and what was worse, hit by heavy rain after getting on the expressway. Despite the half day driving, the participants showed a tired expression on their faces.

At a stamp point provided in the expressway service area or a roadside station, there were many locals lining the roadside to cheer for the participants, and the participants were waving their hands with a smile to respond to them. One of the participants told us later very happily that the cheering was really supportive and lifted their spirit.

On 17th, day two, this race is scheduled to depart from NASPA New Otani ( Yuzawa, Niigata Prefecture ), the accommodation of day one, and head for Karuizawa passing through Iiyama, Nagano Prefecture.
