This year, La Festa Mille Miglia will be celebrating its 12th year, its first cycle of the Chinese New Year.
Since its inception, the event has gone by the following three principles:
1. Respect the Classic
The rapid advancement of modern technology has allowed us to live in a highly convenient age, but has the same sense of satisfaction extended inside of us? Have our passion and values evolved as well?
Through its existence over the past half-century, the modern automobile has undergone a radical technological makeover, giving them computer-enforced features that can direct us safely and soundly to any destination we desire.
Vehicles that take part in La Festa Mille Miglia require manual application and solid conditions to reach their destinations. While they may seem inconvenient and quaint compared what is available today, they are a manifestation of the imagination and passion of their creators, and thus have an individualism and allure absent from today's vehicles. In a time when it has become common to switch to the latest in everything, we feel it is important to preserve these vehicles, and in turn preserve the spirit of its creators, our forefathers.
2. Be a Child at Heart
The average age of La Festa Mille Miglia's entrants is over 50.
No matter where you're watching the event from, please take a close look at these drivers.
Behind the grey hair and wrinkled skin, you will find the drive and determination of a young man chasing his dream. They all smile enthusiastically, and as a result, are young for their age.
We believe the key to staying young is to always have a dream - it is therefore only natural for dreams to be more important than ever as we age. These entrants are living proof that no matter how much we age, we need to continue pursuing dreams and challenging ourselves.
3. Expand the Circle of Friendship
Featuring entrants from here and overseas, as well as staff, volunteers, and spectators spread out over 1,000 miles of concrete, La Festa Mille Miglia serves as a melting pot of cultures sharing in a universal passion, and serving a universal purpose - expanding the circle of friendship.
Now and forevermore, La Festa Mille Miglia will be conducted with the above principles in mind.
