La Festa Mille Miglia 2007
style

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Mille Miglia.
The first Grand Prix Race for automobiles was held in 1921 in the ancient city of Brescia in the north of Italy. In 1925, the Grand Prix Race was transferred to the newly built Monza Circuit in the outskirts of Milan. The people of Brescia, who dearly love motor sports, were very disappointed and they wanted to bring their city back into the spotlight. Based on an idea of four local men, they planned to hold a race on public roads, not on a closed circuit. The course ran from Brescia, south to Rome and then swung back north along a different route and returned to the goal in Brescia, with a total distance of 1,000 miles. In Italian, this is expressed as Mille Miglia, and this phrase was adopted as the name of the race. On March 26, 1927, the first Mille Miglia was held with the participation of 101 cars. The winning car that year was No. 14 OM Tipo 665 Sport, and it completed the course in 21 hours 4 minutes and 48 seconds.

Subsequently, this great public road race has been held 24 times, with a gap during the Second World War years. Car manufacturers all developed cars to try to win the Mille Miglia, and famous racers including Piero Taruffi and Tazio Nuvolari won the event. In 1955, a Mercedes Benz 300 SLR driven by Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson won the race in slightly over 10 hours at an average speed of 160 KPH, a major record for this 1,000-mile course. This record remains unbroken.

However, in 1957, a terrible disaster occurred. A Ferrari driven by Marquis Alfonso de Portago had a tire burst and skidded into the spectators.
In view of the seriousness of this accident, the Italian government decided to prohibit the holding of this race.

However, in the 1970s, the Italian economy showed a downward trend, and the people of Brescia sought to return their country to the headlines. In 1977, 20 years after the race had been discontinued, the Mille Miglia was revised in the form of the world's most magnificent classic car race.

The revived Mille Miglia uses the same course as in previous years from Brescia to Rome and back to Brescia. However, it is not a speed race, but basically a stamp rally visiting many beautiful locations in Italy. The cars qualified to participate are sports cars that had previously participated or would have been eligible to participate from 1927 to 1957.

The number "7" is the "Number of Destiny" for the Mille Miglia because the race first started in 1927, was suspended in 1957, and then revived in 1977.

"7"is indeed a number of destiny for La Festa Mille Miglia.
La Festa Mille Miglia originated in 1997, the 70th anniversary of Mille Miglia. And now, this year, 2007, is the first year of the "internationalization" of our event, mingling with guests and participants from overseas.
However "La Festa Mille Miglia" does not have the same long history, and fewer cars from fewer nations participate. However, the smiling faces of the participants, the spectators along the course and the race officials are just the same.
This year, many people from overseas will participate in "La Festa Mille Miglia". We are sure that this event will see even more smiling faces than before on people of many nations.

"La Festa Mille Miglia" is held under the three fundamental concepts of "Revering the ancient", "Being young at heart however old we become" and "Expanding the circle of friendship among all participants of the event", and under our key concept of "continuity", we are committed to ensuring that this event evolves and advances year by year.

In this way, we believe that one day "La Festa Mille Miglia" will become a legendary event.
